King PalmThe King palm is a tall handsome specimen that can reach 80 feet in height with a spread of about 10-15 feet. It looks a little bit like the Coconut palm tree.

The trunk is slim, grey, neat, litlle swollen at the base, ringed with noticeable leaf scars. The Archontophoenix Alexandrae has graceful arching, pinnate leaves that are bright green above and silvery underside.

The King palm produces the branched pendulous inflorescences below the crownshaft with small creamy-white flowers. Male and female flowers are on the same plant. The Archontophoenix alexandrae forms round, 1/2 inch in diameter decorative green fruits that become red when ripe.
