The King palm is easy to care for. Native to the rainforests in Australia King palms like high humidity and plenty of water (they need more water that most palm trees). In dry weather they love even more water. Mature plants are moderately drought tolerant, and young plants should be watered regularly.

King palms can grow in full sun but prefer shade. They also can be grown in indoor shade.

Mature King palms are able to take light frost for short time, and young plants need protection during cold periods. They can be killed or severely damages at 26-28 F.

The King palm should be fertilizated at least twice a year during the growing season.
